Lambert Awarding Songwriting Scholarship
In result of a sold-out club show in Chicago, IL, Miranda Lambert will--for a second year--fund the Miranda Lambert Women Creators Scholarship at Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. The purpose of the fund is to provide a scholarship to an outstanding female student who is majoring in music business, songwriting or entertainment industry studies. Applications are now open for the 2017 - 2018 scholarship. Candidates must complete an online application and submit an original song.

Learn Professional Recording in New York
In New York, BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) is a public organization that provides shared educational programs and services to two or more school districts. With career-oriented instruction and recording equipment provided by TASCAM, 11th and 12th grade students are learning to work with audio and video the way professionals do. Each state has it owns law, rules and procedures. For this article, attorney Glenn Litwak will discuss California law. Drum Contest Accepting Entries
The Hit Like A Girl contest is a program specifically designed to highlight female drummers and percussionists and to promote women in music. There are five categories: Drum Set Ages Under 18, Drum Set Ages 18 and up, World Percussion, Marching Percussion and Concert Percussion. Entrants should upload a performance video to YouTube, Vimeo or a similar site and send a link to HLAG for the judges to evaluate. The last day to enter is March 13. Grand Prize winners will receive drum kits from contest sponsors with cymbals, sticks, heads and other accessories.

Submissions Open for Audio Scholarship
API has opened submissions for its 10th annual scholarship award. Formerly known as the API Visionary Scholarship, the API Saul Walker Memorial Scholarship honors API Co-Founder Saul Walker. The scholarship is offered as a way to give back to the audio community, and encourage audio students to work with analog gear early on in their education. The application consists of several short essay questions, and a submission of the applicant's best audio work. API will accept applications postdated before the May 1 deadline, and winners will be announced by June 30.
