Each of the pianists have their own unique relationship with Peterson or his music. Six pianists and trio frontmen were asked to write an original composition and choose either a pertinent standard or play one of Peterson’s pieces in order to create a natural flow to the recording.
Each leader selected their own sidemen for the respective trios.
Upon hearing the results Dr. Peterson sent eact pianist a note of appreciation and ordered sixty copies to be spread among friends and associates.
