This month we have a ton of. events, from awesome song critique workshops to. performance showcases. Also, our new program, Songcollab is heating up with co-writing opportunities. SONGSALIVE! SONGWRITERS SONG CRITIQUE WORKSHOP LOS ANGELES CAMonthly on the Third Sunday of the month
On Sunday September 15 at 12PM, Songsalive! continues their monthly songwriter’s workshop series with 3-time Grammy-nominated Pamela Phillips Oland.
Pamela has over  500 songs recorded in the U.S.A. and worldwide, including lyrics for Aretha Franklin & The Four Tops, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston & Jermaine Jackson’s “Nobody Loves Me Like You Do,” Anne Murray, Howie Dorough & Sarah Geronimo, Philip Bailey, Earth Wind & Fire, Gladys Knight, Reba McIntyre, Peabo Bryson, The Jacksons, Engelbert Humperdinck, Dolly Dots, Dusty Springfield, The Crusaders, The Whispers, The Brothers Johnson, Selena, DJ Ralphi Rosario, and Michael Learns to Rock. Pamela’s TV and film lyrics include The Sopranos, Coming to America, 102 Dalmatians, Burglar, J*A*G, Xena Warrior Princess, Gideon, Kids 10 Commandments and Blizzard (Genie Award-nominated for Best Song in a Motion Picture). She has given multiple seminars on songwriting, including at Carnegie Hall, in Australia and Finland, and at music conservatories around Denmark. She taught her craft for 8 years at UCLA, and was part of the historic “Music Speaks Louder Than Words” event--the first ever creative exchange between US and Soviet songwriters and artists, in Moscow and Leningrad. Pamela’s books are, The Art of Writing Great Lyrics and The Art of Writing Love Songs. Musicals she’s currently developing: "Chick,” “Wonder” (a Stevie Wonder musical) and “Touch Me, a Rock Show”. Her musical “Soldier of Orange” is in its 9th sold-out year in Holland, with almost 3 million tickets sold. It is the most successful musical in Dutch history and is about to go into workshop in London, where a new immersive theater is being built for it in Newham, near London City Airport. Producers plan to open in September, 2020. Pamela is the sole lyricist for Argentinian diva Karen Souza, including co-writing the hit song “Paris.”

  • Taking care of the business aspects including costs, of collaboration
  • Overcoming the fear of losing your creative input
  • How to know when a collaboration is a dud, a drain, or a disaster

Are you a songwriter willing to take your songs to the next level? Workshop your songs to be the best they can be, and get them out to the world. Hosted by Rik Lawrence, of Songsalive!, the largest global songwriters squad, the Songsalive! Workshops are open to all songwriters, composers, lyricists and musicians. First half song critique. Second half industry session, with invaluable guest speakers from the music business. Come ready with your songs for feedback and create long lasting relationships in the songwriting community. Goals of our Workshops: 1) the SONG and making it the best it can be. 2) providing a community for our members to gather, network, collaborate and learn. Come prepared for song critique (see below)

TIME: Starts 12:00pm sharp. Ends at 3pm. Attendees are asked to stay for the whole workshop.
COST: Free for Songsalive! PRO Members and $10 for everyone else*. RSVP is mandatory. No-shows and late arrivals will not be invited back.

With Guest Speaker Bobbo Byrnes on The Fine Art Of Touring The USA As A Working Musician

On Saturday August 24 at 6:30 PM, Songsalive! continues their monthly songwriter’s workshop series with guest speaker Bobbo Byrnes who shares his thoughts and experience of Touring the USA as a. Workign Musician. This is your chance to develop your songwriting in a supportive and intimate environment, meet invaluable music industry experts, network with fellow members, and be part of your local songwriters community. The first half is solely dedicated to an in-the-round critique workshop where writers present one song each - either on CD or live - with feedback and critique given by a guest speaker or the Songsalive! moderator (who in-turn allows some comments from attendees also). The second half is dedicated to a Music Industry educational and informative discussion/talk, often with an industry guest speaker, and plenty of time to talk and network. GOALS: 1) the SONG and making it the best it can be . 2) providing a community for our members to gather, network, collaborate and learn.

NEXT: Saturday SEPTEMBER 28
TIME: Starts 6:30 pm SHARP. Ends at 9:30 pm. Please be on time. Late arrivals are not supported. You need to come for the whole event!

Showcases are a very cozy, intimate and acoustic environment where media and music industry representatives often drop by to check out the latest talent, hosted by Dan Schteingart.  Showcase your music and support our national and international live events and showcases presenting songwriters and artists of original music. Showcases are quality entertainment songwriter performances around the country. All members are eligible to perform at a Songsalive! showcase based on availability, schedule and of course, your talent! This is also an Open Mic so stop in and sign up and perform. Then you can be eligible as a future featured artist.

Cool Community Event - Plugging Into Nashville

Songsalive! is offering a special attendance to 'Artist Boot Camp in Nashville' for our Members, coming up this weekend.

Are you new to Nashville or trying to break through the music industry there? The ‘Plugging Into Nashville’ 3-day boot camp was designed specifically for you! You and up to 9 other attendees will learn how to navigate the Nashville music industry from 9 respected, door-opening industry pros. They include 2 publishers, a producer, a sync agent. An artist manager, a booking consultant, an established songwriter and more. You will pitch your music to them. But most importantly, because of the small and intimate setting, you will build personal relationships with them.

The next boot camp is September 6-8, and you can participate in Nashville or live online. All participants get access to the videos of all the sessions.
Plugging into Nashville is a 3 day intensive Boot Camp (09/06 - 09/08) designed to help you navigate the Nashville Music Industry. Learn from Industry experts on how to connect with publishers, network with industry pros, showcase your songs, and exclusive Nashville's 'Insider Secrets'.
All Songsalive! Members are eligible to receive a 20% discount. In Person rate is normally, $347 (includes 3 meals). Songsalive! member price is $275 - a savings of $72 (20%). The cost to participate online is normally $197. Songsalive! member price is $147, a $50 (25%) savings.
