Lambert Awarding Songwriting Scholarship In result of a sold-out club show in Chicago, IL, Miranda Lambert will--for a second year--fund the Miranda Lambert Women Creators Scholarship at Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. The purpose of the fund is to provide a scholarship to an outstanding female student who is majoring in music business, songwriting or entertainment industry studies. Applications are now open for the 2017 - 2018 scholarship. Candidates must complete an online application and submit an original song. Formerly known as the API Visionary Scholarship, the API Saul Walker Memorial Scholarship honors API Co-Founder Saul Walker. The infectious ‘Elevation’ has already proved popular with fans; it has been heard around the world and when S.E.L opened for the UK Soul majestic collective with her new single, the stadium sang along to the chorus at every performance. ‘Elevation’ epitomizes the true authenticity of UK Soul, with a deliciously infectious hook and fresh, uplifting lyrics. Determined to bring British soul music back to its grass roots, ‘Elevation’ is S.E.L’s third release. Backing vocalist manager, choreographer, and full-time member of legendary London-based group Soul2Soul, S.E.L is much more than an incredibly talented vocal artist. S.E.L has written music for both herself and other artists, featured as a vocalist and writer for German production duo ‘Braa Conspiracy’, sung live at a number of festival performances throughout the London Olympics in 2012, collaborated with Blue’s Duncan James, arranging vocal harmonies and performing backing and lead vocals, and worked with the likes of Alicia Keys, Debbie Harry, S.O.S band, Mica Paris, Jocelyn Brown and many others. Savannah Philyaw

Savannah Philyaw is a young singer, songwriter, and performer from San Diego. 

Writing a blend of indie pop, folk, americana, and country style songs, Savannah has recently written a collection of songs for Warner Bros TV Productions. 

After releasing 3 EPs over the past 4 years,  Savannah is working on her first full length CD for release in the Fall of 2017. 

Since beginning her music career at age 15, she has shared the stage with many acts such as Howie Day, Tyler Hilton, Bethany Joy Lenz, Kate Voegele, Max Frost, Tronye Wells and Lee DeWyze. 

She has co-written with San Diego’s Calman Hart and Multi-Platinum Songwriter Michael Natter. Savannah quotes, “Music is not what I do, it’s who I am”.

The Motel Pines

The Motel Pines is an original alternative/indie rock band based out of North Texas formed out of the longtime friendship and musical chemistry of former members of Saints and Sinners lead singer Michael Carrasco and drummer Mark Starling. With the addition of bassist John Rowland and lead guitarist Ben Gaither who both have backgrounds spanning a wide variety of everything from rock to bluegrass, all of the influences combine to create a sound that is familiar yet fresh and unique. Carrasco's songwriting is not the typical boy meets girl, but delves more into the deep waters of life. Carrasco says his interest leans more towards philosophy and science, and that's just what comes out.

The name Motel Pines represents an older motel in an area where nice new businesses are springing up all around it. Not being phased by all the revitalization, it has stayed true to it's old school vibe. "This just seemed like a good metaphor for the band." says Starling. "We're probably way too old to be in a rock band, but here we are." jokes Rowland. You can feel some old school influence as the Motel Pine's music tends to come steeped with a heavy dose of 90s alt rock. Carrasco's powerful unique voice also shows influence from his early days fronting punk bands. Not really worried about influence or age, the Motel Pines just try to write music they enjoy, and hope you will too.
