AKA" Tampa Bay's Smoothest Vocalist" I am a song stylist and keyboardist transplanted from Massachusetts to Tampa in the late '80s.  since then I have been performing as a solo artist as well as the leader of a trio and a quartet from time to time. I have done some light touring throughout New England and parts of  Canada in the past headlining events as well as opening for Kool & The Gang, Vanilla Fudge, Etta James, The Drifters, and others but since the late 90's I have been doing mostly restaurant gigs where I perform mostly these days. That allows me to continue writing and recording more original music.

For my live gigs, I primarily play my interpretation of cover tunes with a mix of original music. I have an extensive catalog now of original music that I like to showcase as often as possible. I have some of my original music recorded and listed with online merchants and sites and lots more yet to be recorded for commercial sale.

As a musician, I am self-taught on vocals, keyboards, and drums. I have done small tours with various size ensembles as a frontman, organist, keyboardist, and drummer. I do not read music, although I am quite familiar with chords and music structure. I have always had an innate sense of music flow. So much so that I was able to solo better than I could find chords. Even now I can hear a foreign or new piece of music and be able to improvise a verbal riff or solo to accompany it.

My vocal style and tone are often compared to Lou Rawls, Nat Cole Billy Eckstine, and other smooth crooners when singing some ballads. I do not try to emulate those legends but I do derive lots of influences from all the masters as I project my unique personal style.

My live performance repertoire has a mix of Jazz, Blues, Pop, Standards, Adult Contemporary, Vocals and Instrumentals, Covers, and originals. The audience I face and gig parameters direct the content (set) mix for the gig.

Jesus Ayala Jr.

 

Jesus Ayala Jr., hailing from Chicago, armed with an American White Fender Stratocaster aims to relive the glory days of early-2000’s Garage Rock/Indie Rock/Post-Punk Revival era. His music is in the same vain as that from The Strokes, The Killers, The Vaccines, Weezer, and Arctic Monkeys. “I’m nostalgic for the nights that people went out to smoke cigarettes, drink cheap beer, and listen to rock bands. The scene changed on me when I was old enough to go out, so I hope we can recreate that” Ayala Jr. stated.

Jesus Ayala Jr. is no stranger to indie-rock anthems, having performed with bands The Charters and The Fevertones. The Charters won the Hollywood Songwriting Contest for ‘It’s a Lonely Christmas’ and performed two sold-out shows at their height in Chicago.
