Creative Commons Celebrates Ten Years
By Terry Hart -- Should creators use Creative Commons licenses? The idea behind the licenses is a good one: copyright gives creators the choice of how and when to exploit the products of their labor. Elishema - HoodCheaters
Elishema
by InterNetics eMagazine on December 6th, 2012
Often being compared vocally to a younger version of the late Whitney Houston, and having the performance dynamics of Mary J Blige.
R&B Hip Hop Chicago native Elishema whose name comes from the biblical text, meaning the heavenly father will listen, is certainly befitting of such a name. Gifted with an angelic and enchanting voice that commands attention, Elishema chooses to use her talents as a singer, songwriter/ part-time rapper to impart love and wisdom through music which she refers to as “music of empowerment,” empowering her listeners to positive action. Infusing elements of Pop, Rock, Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop in her music she strives to craft feel good songs that are not only pleasing to the ears, but carries a deeper message that resonates with the soul and gives one strength, inner happiness, peace of mind, and realness.

Infusing elements of Pop, Rock, Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop in her music she strives to craft feel good songs that are not only pleasing to the ears, but carries a deeper message that resonates with the soul and gives one strength, inner happiness, peace of mind, and realness.
Elishema’s musical journey began when she was very young, where she’d often crash her parent’s lavish parties and enjoin everyone in attendance to listen to yet another song she had written. She says “I was only like five years old at the time, but found myself drawn to the music, it became like my best friend, I’d spend all my time singing and writing songs.”
Being in a household of music enthusiast, Elishema found herself being exposed to lots of great artist, but was mostly influenced by artist like Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Patti Labelle, and Brandy, who all inspired her to be the performer she is today. Finding her calling at a very young age and backed by the support of her family, Elishema embarked on a journey to share her love for music with the world, doing everything within her power to develop her craft and gain exposure.
Throughout the years Elishema has had the opportunity to grace the stage at many venues like the Rosemont convention center, Chicago Theater, and a host of others, touching the hearts of thousands of music lovers with her voice, and dynamic performances. In 2011 she was highlighted in the BET Lens On Talent contest and a Chicago finalist in the Budweiser Myspace Opening Act contest. She has also been recognized by Marshal Thompson of the Legendary Chi-Lites who has been quoted as saying “She’s going to be hotter than Beyonce.”
In 2011 Elishema released her first independent album which was a follow up to her controversial single “Sophisticated Man” which was well received by many blogs and radio stations. “New Beginnings” was a 16 track album that combined a mixture of R&B, Hip Hop and Pop songs centered on themes for inspiration.
As she moves forward with a new single being released in 2012 entitled Hood Cheaters, Elishema intends to continue her quest to impart wisdom. Hood Cheaters is a song written to shed light on the ways of unfaithful companions in loving relationships, and her approach to handling them. In 2013 and beyond with her sophomore album underway centered around R&B love songs Elishema seeks to continuously rediscover and reinvent herself as an artist, and continue to impart warmth, and well-being through her music that goes beyond the surface of your skin to really touch your heart and soothe your soul.
